Student Action
for Burma |
|
In 1988, when non-violent
demonstrators calling for democracy filled the
streets in Burma, they were led by students.
Today our global movement also needs students
at the forefront.

Educate
your peers |
|
We have produced materials and tools that will
help you educate other students about what is
happening in Eastern Burma. Awareness is growing,
but many people still don't know what is happening
to the people of Burma.
Visit the student organizations on campus that
deal with human rights and social justice issues.
Speak to them about the situation in Burma and
ask them to get involved. Then, start approaching
other groups on campus, such as your dorm, fraternities,
sororities, cultural associations, community
service groups, and religious communities.
We have created a Burma Action Pack that
includes:
1) A booklet on Burma's history and human rights
situation,
2) The DO-AYAY: OUR CAUSE documentary by the
Freedom Campaign,
3) The SEASON OF FEAR documentary by Burma Issues/WITNESS,
and
4) Flyers for our current campaigns

Fundraise |
| The
US Campaign for Burma is the only organization
in the United States working politically to
end the attacks in Eastern Burma, free all of
Burma's 1200 political prisoners, and help bring
about a peaceful democracy in Burma. We have
a hard-working staff, and dedicated volunteers
working around the clock for Burma's people.
But Burma needs more.
To help, start by becoming
a member of the US Campaign for Burma. Then,
get your friends and family to join, also, or
hold a fundraising event like a house party
or concert to raise the vital funds to keep
our work going.
If you're interested in fundraising for the
US Campaign for Burma, e-mail donations@uscampaignforburma.org
for fundraising ideas and materials.
