Global Protests at Embassies on Friday, June 17th 2005

Two days before the "arrest yourself" events on June 19th, we called on individuals and groups around the world to organize mega-protests in front of embassies of Burma's military regime. Where possible, we called on individuals and groups to conduct peaceful civil disobedience aimed at disrupting the activities of the embassies.

In Washington, DC activists attempted to deliver over 6,000 birthday cards (in honor of Aung San Suu Kyi's 60th birthday) signed by people living in the United States to Aung San Suu Kyi. Similar events took place all around the world!

We were joined by Senator Tom Lantos from California, many representatives of the Washington DC-area Burmese community, and many members of the press.

See who arrested themselves on June 19, 2005!
